Grocery Shopping Is Robbing More Than Just Our Wallets

I wanted to take a moment to talk about grocery shopping, the rising costs of food, and how the food we are offered is really not good for our health. I don’t want to come off as an alarmist or a conspiracy theorist because I am neither. I am, however, a concerned citizen of humanity who, just taking a look around, knows that something is seriously wrong with the food we get when we go grocery shopping.

If you live in North America, I’m sure you feel the pinch lately at the grocery stores. The rising cost of food is absolutely insane. We’ve seen our own grocery bills quadruple. What used to cost us $100 is now costing us $400 for the same stuff, and less of it to boot. The grocers and the government alike will blame inflation and supply chains but I don’t believe them for one second.

“You Will Own Nothing, And You Will Be Happy”

Yes, things all around are very expensive these days and I believe, in part, we have the WEF to thank for that. If you don’t know who Klaus Schwab is or what the WEF is, I suggest you take a moment to visit their website and take the time to understand their crooked Agenda 2030.

The WEF is cracking down hard on its Agenda 2030, we can see it all around us. Especially in Canada, I swear we are the poster child for their agenda and our Prime Minister is the dumbest MF of all, a puppet for their mission, blinded by whatever they’ve offered him for his unquestionable allegiance. In other words, Canada is fucked.

The Revolving Door Between Food & Pharma

Thanks to the internet we have the ability to educate ourselves on the foods we consume and while some of us do get our feet wet in that rabbit hole, many still believe that our food is safe and healthy. It boggles my mind. I don’t understand how people can follow that narrative so blindly, never questioning it, and never even considering the possibility that there may be a hidden agenda and that you are a pawn in this game of theirs.

For me, it’s just too convenient that the food we eat is making us sick. Then we go to the doctor looking for help. The doctors give us pills to alleviate symptoms, but they do not address the root causes of your disease. They do not suggest addressing your diet. They do not address your hormones, your lifestyle, or nothing.

Non-Communicable Diseases and Your Diet

There is a study published out of the University of Toronto in April 2023 suggesting that “88% of all deaths in Canada are due to non-communicable diseases (NCDs)” and that “An unhealthy diet is one of the major preventable risk factors for a range of NCDs”. In other words, the food you eat will decide your fate, and the more unhealthy foods you consume, the more likely you will end up sick and die of a NCD such as heart disease, cancer, or diabetes. So, they tell you to eat a healthy diet, but what does a healthy diet look like by their standards?

According to the WHO’s website, their suggestions for a healthy adult’s diet should contain fruits and vegetables, nuts, and grains. One should consume no more than 10% of their daily intake (approximately 12 teaspoons) in sugar. Less than 30% of their daily intake should be from fats and less than 5g of salt.

But wait a minute…

There is something seriously wrong with this it seems. Why are they suggesting we consume foods that are (most likely to be) genetically modified, sprayed with chemicals such as Glyphosate (which is a known carcinogen), and why do they insist on replacing healthy fats such as butter with unhealthy fats such as soybean oil or canola oil. It is well known that seed oils are said to be some of the worst oils for your overall health.

Where is the protein? Where is the meat? Protein, a macronutrient, helps the body build and repair cells and tissues and it is a crucial component for one’s overall health. So why is it omitted from their dietary guidelines? This seems backward to me. All the foods that are critical for good health are snubbed and they advise us to consume foods that are sprayed with chemicals, allow a ridiculously unhealthy amount of sugar, and consume fats that are anything but healthy. I’m sorry, what?

Your Hand Is Being Forced

Now that some people are beginning to smarten up, taking their health into their own hands, you begin to see the costs of healthier foods skyrocketing and the costs of the foods they deem “healthy” staying within a relatively affordable range. Meanwhile, junk food doesn’t seem to be rising much in price at all.

This is how they are forcing your hand to consume unhealthier foods. If you can’t afford $9.99 for a pint of organic strawberries, then you’ll opt to buy the $4.99 pint that has been sprayed with chemicals that make you sick. If you can’t afford the $8.99 for a pound of butter, you’ll opt for the $4.97 for a liter of canola oil. If you can’t afford the $9.99 for the organic unbleached flour to make your own bread, you’ll opt for the $1.97 loaf that is again sprayed with chemicals that are making you sick and chocked full of sugar you don’t need!

And don’t even get me started on things like why the hell is Kraft Dinner still $1.25 to buy, but a pound of pork chops has gone from $3 to over $10? Why is chicken breast almost $40 in some places? Why are some Canadians paying upwards of $11 for a pint of blueberries?

This Is Just TOO MUCH!

It is so easy to get overwhelmed with the way this world is going. It shouldn’t be this difficult to live. It shouldn’t financially ruin you to eat healthy foods. We shouldn’t be priced out of trying to live a healthy life.

They’ve made us all lazy and broke, and its easier and cheaper to treat the symptoms that it is to treat the root cause. And let’s be honest, healthy people don’t make them any money! That’s really what all this comes down to is greedy shareholders who don’t give a f*ck about you or your health. They just want to get richer.

 So What Can We Do?

If you live in the city it’s much harder to do what I’m about to suggest, but it’s not impossible. First I’ll make my suggestions, then I’ll provide some tips on how city-dwellers can help themselves. The honest-to-goodness truth is that the only real way to be healthy these days is to grow all your own food, but we know that is not realistic either.

Many people who read my blog as either current homesteaders or dream-to-be homesteaders. You guys already know what to do, but I’m going to dish it all out again anyway:

  • Grow all the fruits and veggies yourself, and grow enough for the entire year.
  • Can and preserve everything you grow in your garden.
  • Learn to eat by the seasons of your climate. Strawberries in January are a no-go!
  • Learn to cook from scratch using only real food ingredients.
  • If you have space, invest in livestock (chickens, rabbits, pigs, and cows).
  • Learn how to hunt and fish!
  • Learn how to make bread and pasta yourself, it’ll change your life, I promise.
  • Buy locally instead of from big box stores if you can.
  • READ LABELS and educate yourself.
  • Shop with intention and be wise about how you spend your money.

Now if you live in the city, most of the suggestions are not feasible for you, however, there are ways around some of these things such as:

  1. Shop at a local farmers market
  2. Buy a plot at a community garden to grow your own food.
  3. Rent some land from a farmer so you can grow even more food.
  4. Make friends with a farmer and buy meat from them directly.
  5. If you know someone with land, ask to put a cow or pig on it.
  6. Buy eggs and chickens from a local farmer.

There are ways to make sure you are not forced to eat the garbage they sell at the grocery stores and remember – this is a lifestyle, a choice you make, and it is not an easy one. It is extremely time-consuming, it is HARD work, and it requires patience, dedication, compassion, and perseverance.

However, it’s extremely empowering knowing that you can provide for yourself and your family, and keep the people you love the most happy and healthy in a world that seemingly just wants you to be sickly and popping pills in order to make them all rich.

Or maybe I’m just really jaded and it’s all just one happy coincidence! Who really knows?
